A Big “What’s Next” for Charlotte NC

September 30, 2008

Wachovia Bank, one of the two banks headquartered in Charlotte NC is selling it’s banking operations to Citigroup. Wells Fargo.  While some media reports have used the headline of a “swift” fall, this really has been building for a while and for months now questions have swirled around whether or not Wachovia would be able to make it through the ongoing credit crisis.  Wachovia is not the first (and may not be the last) casualty of the rising defaults and losses, particularly... Read more →

Charlotte NC School Research Tools

September 29, 2008

For buyers considering relocating to or moving within the Charlotte NC area, schools can be a major consideration. When researching a location, sometimes a school will actually narrow the areas in which you’d like to live. Just as neighborhood and home style are important, schools can be a major criteria for some home buyers.    No one else can interpret information, performance or resources that a given school offers and what factors are most important to you and your children. For each and every buyer and seller there is a personal story, history, goals (short and long term), fears, concerns and hopes that are intertwined with the purchase or sale of a home.    We can talk all day long about your criteria in a home or the features your home has to offer, but getting to know you and your specific goals, expectations, fears,... Read more →

This Is Just Out of Control

September 24, 2008

Leaving for my afternoon appointment today I didn’t realize that Charlotte had gone into panic mode and residents would choose to spend their afternoon waiting in line for gas. At every single gas station that was not out of gas, there was a line of cars backing up into the roadway (sometimes for blocks).  Not just one or two gas stations, every single one that I passed with any gas to sell, the line of cars stretching into the road - and subsequent traffic mess - was a given.  Seriously?!?!... Read more →

The Fridge Is Not Necessarily Included

September 23, 2008

Unless the refrigerator is built into and attached to either cabinetry or a wall, it is NOT automatic that it will remain with a house. When buying a home in the Charlotte NC area, some home sellers will offer to include the refrigerator with the sale of the home. Others will not and plan on taking the fridge with them.  If you’re unsure whether or not the fridge will remain with the house, it’s better to ask than assume! Some refrigerators may appear built-in but in reality they simply... Read more →

Wallpaper is Not a Selling Feature!

September 20, 2008

When selling your Charlotte NC home, regardless of your personal preference, wallpaper is not a feature that will make your home more appealing to buyers. Quite the opposite, buyers will see that wallpaper and instead of focusing on the room size, layout or how they could live in the space all they can see is the wallpaper.  Then they envision having to take it down (ugh!), re-paint the walls(that’s a fun way to spend a weekend) and all of that adds up to time, energy and aggravation they... Read more →
